Celebration time!!!

Never before I had seen Indian celebrating, the way I have seen today. India is celebrating independence, Holy, Diwali, Christmas and Eid all at the same time.

This in itself gives the clear picture how hungry the Indians were to celebrate something from the core of their heart. For the first time I can see Indian flags waving all around in the victory for the interest of the nation.  Children youths and old all have joined hands to celebrate the beginning of a new era in India.

The memories of independence seem to be revived with this effort of Anna and I swear it will no longer be Gandhi alone in the books of history which the coming generations are going to read.

The effort and dedication of a single person has brought happiness on the face of millions who were suffering in some or the other way. Although it is not the end of all the suffering but surely there is a ray of hope to bring the smile on to the face of Indians.

Anna is the real hero and his heroic act is mesmerizing the entire nation. India is no longer a country obsessed with people who can only celebrate the victory of cricket matches. India is at its best tonight and I wonder there would be anybody who would not be happy.

Its time we take up the responsibility to fight for our own rights. People like Gandhi and Anna are born once in a decade. We need to assure that we can fight under the guidance of such a man of power and faith. It’s time we should come up with the slogan Anna hum sangharsh karenge, tum humare sath raho.

Anna has given the needed spark and it’s the responsibility of the people to bring to an end, this war against corruption. At the same time we should be thankful to the government for taking timely action and showing concern for the issue.  

Hope this fight for anti corruption continues until India is free from the shackles of corruption.

Happy independence day!!!

Sixty four years of independence!!!  First of all I would like to wish one and all a very happy independence day. I won’t say it was a difficult feat to achieve this 64^th independence , but its praise worthy the way we have come along a long distance from what we used to be 64 years ago. From being a dependent country to transform into an independent one in all walks of life- whether it be science and technology, Arts and culture, finance and marketing and off course there remains few more rhombic development like corruption and bribery, nepotism and cronyism  etc. which had been the headlines for decades; in itself gives the clear picture of today.

Well it does really feel great to be a part of independent INDIA. I enjoy all that could be possible in a democratic independent country. I am proud to live a peaceful life!! But alas!! Are the 1.2 billion people of India are as peaceful and complacent as me. The answer is no and that’s the reason it brings me down into the category of the anxious people who are struggling to gain their true independence. Independence here am talking about is more in sense of growth and development rather than getting free from the shackle of the being dependent on external power.

Things have changed from telegram to email and phone to mobile, but one thing remained as it is for all these year. Yes its corruption! In my lifetime so far I would have met thousands of people who had talked about corruption. All of them opposed it, but then, who the hell is corrupt???The Lokpal bill is one such instance of frustration of the masses which is the outcome of corruption. We ought to end it.

Well there are people who are trying their level best to bring about revolution to improve the condition of the country. But from the common people’s point of view, what is our role? Does anyone have taken the pain in promoting the general awareness for the role of common people toward the society for a better tomorrow?? A majority of the people would come back with the suggestion of volunteering any such activities like the Lokpal Bill and alike. That’s not bad, but we need to focus more on our basics than anything else. We are the one who can bring about a great difference in today’s India.

Well we learned in our nursery – charity begins at home!

It’s time we should learn and teach our coming generation the new proverb

“Corruption begins at home”

Hard to believe but it is true. Corruption is a disease which cannot be treated overnight. In fact it’s not possible to cure people who are suffering from it. We can try and prolong their life through revolutions but then, the India which we demand has no place for such compromise. We need to end the root cause of corruption.

We should practice honesty as we do practice yoga in our life. We should start from small things like avoiding cheating in examination and discouraging children from getting involved in unfair means to clear their papers.  We should oppose against dowry and as a male it should be an issue of prestige not to accept dowry. We should learn not to take away somebody’s lost money or belongings and use them for personal purpose; rather we should learn to donate such belongings to some charity or anyone needy- like a pauper. In short I want the people to learn about two of the most prolific terms of islam “haraam”(Forbidden) and “halaal” (Permissible).  The moment one is aware of haraam and halaal, I bet corruption will fall as never before.

We need to know how haraam has an adverse effect on oneself as well as on our society. How it is important to make us feel proud and confident and peaceful if we consume halaal things in our life.

Once we understand the basic difference between them it will bring about a revolution on its own and convert India into a prosperous and peaceful country. Let’s take an oath on this eve of Independence Day to practice honesty with body mind and soul. Wish for the better India. Amen!!

Do we really need management???

Life has changed a lot in this era. Things which were natural and spontaneous are made part of the syllabus and are dreamt to be learnt. The modern age claims to conquer each and every natural art and instinct. It claims them to be an art to be learnt blindly. There are degrees and courses which promise to produce the best of human skill and ability. And no wonder we are lured by the future these courses and degrees promises.

But there is an age old adage “you cannot send a duck to an eagle’s school”. This is self explanatory which no management school teaches. Management schools focus on the comments of big business gurus who always look for smart and talented employee who can work just for the sake of their personal benefit.

Today everything is treated like a mathematical equation.

 Need an employee for a software company? The formula is matriculation 60%, higher secondary 60% and a degree in engineering in any stream with an aggregate of 60%.

This formula designed by our management guru is considered to be the landmark for number of organization. Since it is formulated by our so called management gurus, no organization or institute dare to disobey it.

Similar is the case with the promotional criteria which a hell lot of companies and organization follows.

Although they claim to be a motivational factor to encourage and produce the best of their employee, the side effects I wonder are much more fatal in such cases. It is more like an Indian election where candidates try to grab as much votes as possible and win. It’s a situation where satisfaction among the masses is missing.

I remember how the efficiency of employees went down after an appraisal in an organization. Satisfaction was missing. Each one was promoted but there was pain of somebody else achieving greater feats with same efforts as the other guys. Sometime we are not ready to accept such injustice towards us, as we are equally good and efficient. But based on nepotism (which people generally assume) some people tend to win over the other. Things become similar to a battle field where each one of us tries to fight and win at any cost. Winning here is not in the broader sense of achieving something, but just to pull out the competitor, which is not a healthy sign at all.

There need to be a change in the system to cope with such situation and it’s not important that it should come from a tried and tested management school or a management guru. We should learn to learn from our vicinity. A better option could be that there should be an open house to discuss the contribution of an individual for his organization, where each one would get a fairer chance to display their contribution and subsequently judged by the higher authority and the fellow employee. Accordingly they should be rewarded and honored, which could be helpful in bringing down the covetousness among the other employee.

Our Indian culture is not dynamic and challenging as it should be, and that is one of the biggest reasons why we are not as developed as other countries. The loopholes lie in the system, and not in the ability and talent of its citizen. Indian can do wonders provided they follow the basics and at times avoid taking decision based on such ridiculous mathematical formulas.

It’s high time we need to realize that there can be no course to teach the natural art. Courses cannot teach one how to love. A course cannot teach a mother the art of motherhood and a father the art of fatherhood.  All it need is to be dedicated and devotional toward things we do. Similarly management needs to be learnt by observation rather than through courses which looks ridiculous at times.
