Before watching the movie, “The Dirty Picture” I had a completely different mind frame based on its nomenclature, but after watching it I am compelled to think over it and compare movies on the lines of dirtiness. Just because its name suggest something dirty should not be enough to hallmark it as an erotic movie.
What makes this picture dirty in the views of critics? Is that the skin show, the story or the direction? As far as skin show is concerned I can bet; it is not at par with any of the Imran Hashimi’s movies. Just because the ill fitted outfits are boldly displayed and intentions revealed frankly, which in other movies are overseen, cannot earn Vidya, a dubious reputation.
Any of the Malika sherawat’s or even the so called reputed female artist’s movies had displayed much more than Vidya ever did. I can remember the beach scene picturising Imran and Malika or Anil Kapoor romancing Dimple, to be more erotic and sensual than what this Dirty picture has put on.
The actual motive behind the movie should not be misinterpreted as commercial one, rather it tries to expose out the real state of mind of the audience and the upcoming stars who are struggling to find their way out in the glamorous world. It may not be a fiction but making movies on such stories itself gives an indication of the real motive behind the movie.
Movies are the reflection of our society, at least in the developing countries like India. The Dirty Picture reveals the class of people who admires skin over the talent, theme and the hidden message.
This is a motivational movie for the young generation girls who believe skin show can achieve everything. It’s time for them to realize that taking advantage of being the fairer sex by misusing the nature’s beauty, at times can be dangerous for them as well as for their near and dear ones.
Useless to say, the males of the society have always used the females for their entertainment. It’s high time to realize that we need to respect them as we do respect our spouse, mothers, sisters and offspring. Women cannot be treated as an object of entertainment and pleasure just because they do not belong to one’s scion.
I would accolade the Dirty picture if it could inspire at least one aspiring artist not to fall prey in this male dominated society and choose to earn a leaving in a dignified way. And I am sure it did fulfill the purpose.
